Hi Moms, I am looking into the behind the scene train tour at MK for our 2010 trip and had a question. If you do this do you get to see the parks opening cermony and ride train in and about what is the cost of this? Thanks so much for all your help.

    Hi Catherine,

What a great idea! I absolutely love the amazing tour opportunities offered at Disney World and have enjoyed a number of them.

The Magic Behind Our Steam Engines tour typically takes place Monday-Friday at the Magic Kingdom beginning at 7:30am and lasting approximately three hours. The current cost of the tour is around $52.00 per person and theme park admission is required and not included in the cost of the tour. Guests must be at least ten years of age.

The tour is an up close look at the backstage area where massive steam trains are stored and the work that goes into getting them ready for their daily runs. While you will have the chance to ride the trains and hear the story of how they were so important to Walt, and how they came to be such an integral part of Magic Kingdom, we were not able to be a part of or watch the opening ceremony from the train. This is an informative and fun tour, especially for anyone interested in trains, so my suggestion is to enjoy the tour and if it fits into your schedule, watch the opening ceremony on another day. While the ceremony is festive and something to see, I personally think the tour is the better option if you had to choose.

Tours can be booked in advance by calling 407-WDW-PLAY or 407-939-8687.
