How long should we allow to get from POR to Contemporary for an 8:50 Chef Mickey's reservation? Also, what is the best way to get there?

    Beth:

If you are depending on Disney transportation, you'll need to take a bus from Port Orleans: Riverside to the Magic Kingdom and either make the 8-minute walk over to the Contemporary or head up to the monorail station at the Magic Kingdom entrance and use the resort line to take you to the lobby of the Contemporary. My choice would be the monorail simply because you'll be crossing lanes of traffic to walk to the Contemporary and if you have small children in tow, it can be worrisome. Either way, you're looking at about a 40-minute transfer not including the time you'll need to wait on the bus (give yourself 20 minutes for the wait).

If you're worried about missing the first bus of the morning to the Magic Kingdom, a taxi to the Contemporary from POR would take less than 15 minutes and might be your best choice for a smooth morning. The hotel can ring one for you.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
