We live in the UK, and this year  we would like to take a tour. We have heard about the "Magical Milestones" tour and the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour. Could you tell us a bit about them both, and which one you would go for?

The Mickey's Magical Milestones and Keys to the Kingdom tours are very different.

Magical Milestones is a two-hour tour that takes place in the public areas of the MK. Your guide will take you to areas of the park that illustrate the history of the Mickey Mouse character. It is very focused on the character development and may end with a character greeting. This tour is suitable for ages 10 and up.

The Keys to the Kingdom tour is only available to guests ages 16 and up. You will be taken to backstage areas of the Magic Kingdom for a 4.5 trek to see how the park runs. You may see parade staging areas, cast member utilidors, and other technical and operational areas. You will likely also be able to experience a ride or two with your guide available to answer questions. The cost includes lunch. If you're a WDW park fan, then this tour will give you great insight into how everything works.

If the Keys to the Kingdom tour sounds appealing and you want even more, you might investigate the creme de la creme of Disney parks tours: Backstage Magic. This too is for guests 16 and up and includes lunch. Backstage Magic is a 7 -8 tour backstage at three of the theme parks. I was lucky enough to go on this tour in January 2008. I saw cast services area, the floral and gift department, costume development areas, character makeup rooms, ride repair and restoration areas. This tour is was truly fascinating in every regard.

As an aside, I was in the UK last week. If you have half as good a time at WDW as I did in London, then you're in for the trip of a lifetime.

    Cheers!
