I live in Texas with my family of four I was wondering when the best time is to visit the parks. My son has anxiety. Is there anything we can do to help him get around the park. We are so excited about visiting the park.

Hi Emily! I am not sure if you are asking about time of year or time of day so I will briefly touch on both.

With your son's anxiety it is best not to choose a vacation during a holiday time. This is when the parks will be most crowded and that can certainly be harder on those with anxiety disorders. Summer is also busy and is very hot making a day in the parks somewhat stressful at times.  If you can find a date in late January, early February, September, or mid November you might find it easier on the entire family. This does not mean the parks are empty but the crowd levels can be better then at other times.

Hitting parks early in the day is the best time to find smaller lines at the attractions. Getting the family up early can be a task but it will reap benefits when you can visit many of the rides on your list and be done by noon to head back for some quiet time at the resort. Take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours in the parks in you are a resort guest whether they are early or late and use mid day for the naps!

If you don't feel your son can handle some of the issues of standing in line you can stop and get a Guest Assistance Pass at Guest Services in the parks. Please understand that this is not a front of the line pass and will only give you an alternative waiting area when possible. Sometimes it might actually take a bit longer then the normal line but it does offer a quieter waiting area. You might want to see if your son can handle the regular queues. Disney has redeveloped many of the attraction waiting areas so they are full on fun and interactive things for the kids to do while waiting.
