I live in Columbus, IN! We are headed to WDW in March. I don't see the free dining plan as an option, I think off site might be best for our budget. Any suggestions? Kids are 6 & 7. DH is from Jamaica & has never been. I was there age 16.

    Ann,

Keep an eye out on the Columbus Public Library schedule. I will be there November 15th for a Walt Disney World planning seminar. You better come!

A great deal at an off-site resort, that is hard to beat. But with a first trip you get so much more by being in a Disney resort. It just makes the vacation better, as you are 'there' from the second you arrive until the moment that you leave.

Also, typically the Free Dining Plan promotion comes only with rooms on full resort rates, so it may not be as much of a 'deal' as you think.

So my advice is find a resort at Walt Disney World that matches your budget. I think that the kids, as well as you and your husband, will find that it greatly enhances the experience. If they end up extending the free dining plan, then great. But even if they don't you will get so much more in extra perks (like saving money with the Magical Express and getting more in-park time with Extra Magic Hours) that it makes on-property a better deal in the end than a good hotel deal elsewhere.

Please ask more questions, and I will see you in November!

    Have a magical vacation!
