My little guy (2.5) was just diagnosed with Celiacs. Our vacay is in September and he is free on our dining plan. Is there any way they will still work with us since he isn't paid for or should I start practicing gluten free mickey waffles now?

    Hi Morgan!

Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is almost here! I am so sorry to hear about your son's Celiac disease diagnosis. As the mom of a little Mouseketeer with food allergies, I can tell you that the Chefs and Cast Members have always worked really hard to make sure he has safe and yummy meals during our trip. The Dining Plans are not available for children under 3, but they are welcome to either share with someone at no additional charge or order a separate kids' meal that will be added to the bill.

Either way, here are my top tips on accommodating a special diet at Walt Disney World Resort:
    • Have a plan - I like to use the Walt Disney World Resort section of allergyeats.com to get an idea of the restaurants that may be able to accommodate my son at each resort area we plan on attending.
    • Allergy-Friendly Menus - Walt Disney World Resort is in the process of rolling out allergy-friendly menus to quick-service and table-service restaurants throughout the resort to help Guests identify meals that are safe options for them.
    • Ask an expert - When you order, ask to speak to a Chef, Cast Member trained in Special Dietary Requests, or Manager so that you can explain the foods your son needs to avoid and they can help you identify dishes that your son will enjoy!
    • Be prepared - I always bring a few special treats with us so that my little guy doesn't feel left out if he sees food that he cannot safely have. It's not the same, but the distraction helps ease the sting of disappointment.
Please let me know if you have any other questions! T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
