    James from MD Asked

How do we link our fastpasses together with family. Some are staying at a Disney resort and some are not. HELP

    Hi James!

Traveling with a big group can also be big fun, but it can present a few challenges. We often visit with grandparents and cousins, and I even helped make over 1000 FastPass+ selections for my son’s marching band! For large groups, I recommend planning a meal together each day and a FastPass+ or two, but don’t be afraid to split up and go different directions! Discuss maybe which FastPass+ you want to get together, and which ones you may split up.

Make sure each family has created their own My Disney Experience Account. I feel it works best if each adult creates their own account, and only one parent should add any children. Once all the adults have their own My Disney Experience Accounts, you should use the Family & Friends feature to link to one another.

Designate one person to be the FastPass+ maker, and at the 60-day mark, that person should reserve the FastPass+ selections for everyone staying on property. When the 30-day mark arrives for those staying off property, the designated FastPass+ maker can try to add Guests to the current FastPass+ selections. I find this is easiest on a desktop. View the existing FastPass+ reservations in My Disney Experience and choose “View Details,” and an option will appear to “Add Guests.”  If there is availability you may be able to match the times exactly, or the computer will offer you different options to change times or attractions. For the most popular attractions, there simply may not be availability for a large party at that point, so plan on being flexible. If you really wish to stay together, the FastPass+ maker can change the entire party to a different attraction or time that you can all do together.

When planning a large group, do know that your FastPass+ reservation is an hour-long window and two groups can have overlapping times. A FastPass+ for Big Thunder Mountain at 2:00, means you can arrive anytime between 2:00 and 3:00.  If 8 family members have a FastPass+ at 2:00, and the other 8 have a FastPass+ at 2:25, then you would all be able to board the attraction together between 2:25 and 3:00. When I made FastPass+ selections for the marching band, I had a lot of groups set up overlapping like this and it worked out well.

I hope this helps, James. Please let us know how else we can help as you plan your big family trip!
