Hi! We're leaving in less than 2 weeks for our first WDW vacation. We have a 3 1/2 yo and 5 yo. Trying to make a checklist of must haves for the trip. Making a 20 hr drive with the kids and my expecting wife (10 weeks). Any advice? Thank you

    Hi Thaer,

Thanks for coming back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with another question!  Congratulations on your upcoming arrival, next time you book a Walt Disney World Vacation, you will be a family of five how exciting!

When I travel to Walt Disney World this time of year, there are a few must have items that always make it into my suitcase.  The days are often warm, however, the nights can still be quite cool, so make sure you bring some warm clothes to stay comfortable during the evening.  I also like to pack a small blanket to cover my daughter as we are leaving the parks, this way your children will stay warm, and may even fall asleep on the way back to your resort.  I also pack a lightweight backpack or tote to bring with me into the parks, and I fill it with some snacks, a refillable water bottle, some band aids, wet wipes and sunscreen.  If you are planning on purchasing an autograph book, a few pens or sharpie markers are a good idea as well.  It is also a good idea to pack rain ponchos - they are available for purchase at Walt Disney World Resort, however, you can find them significantly cheaper at home.  We use our ponchos for a variety of things - obviously if it rains, but we like to sit on them during parades, and my daughter will not go on any water rides without wearing her beautiful poncho!

In terms of your drive, have plenty of activities prepared for your children to keep them occupied.  Try stopping frequently for meals so your kids can run around and burn off some energy before getting back in the car.  Have plenty of snacks on hand as well.

Unfortunately I have run out of space.  If you would like more specific ideas or tips, please send me some more detail specific to your itinerary and family.  I would be more than happy to help.
