We are leaving in Feb. 2013 for our very first Disney Cruise, my 11 year old son is a Type 1 diabetic and is on an insulin pump. What do we need to do to make sure that we have everything we need? Thank you.

    Ahoy Suzanne!
Welcome to the Moms Panel and congratulations on embarking on your first magical voyage with Disney Cruise Line!  I'm thrilled you and your family are going to experience the wonder of Disney on the high seas, and I have a feeling you are going to be planning your next cruise before your first one is even over!
Disney Cruise Line does an incredible job of meeting the needs of all their Guests, and your son will be in good hands during your sailing.  If you haven't already, please give Disney Cruise Line a call at (800) 951-3532 to make sure your son's condition is noted on your reservation.  Also, be sure to request any items you may need in your stateroom during your vacation while you are speaking with the Cruise Reservation Agent.  Since his condition will be noted on your cruise reservation, the dining staff will be alerted and will touch base with you at your first dinner onboard.  If you ever have any dining questions in the casual dining buffet or at the quick service counter, just let a crew member know and they will be happy to assist you or find someone who can.  The youth staff will also be notified and if you have any specific directions for them, feel free to stop by during Open House hours on the first afternoon of your cruise.  There is a medical facility onboard with doctors and nurses available if you need to seek medical attention for your son.
Thanks so much for visiting the Moms Panel with your question, Suzanne!  I hope you will let me know if you need any further assistance with your cruise plans.
Have a magical day and happy sailing!
