We are leaving in 3 days for our 1st trip!! Have an ADR at Jiko and wondering if this is the restaurant where you can put on night goggles and see the animals? We love adventurous food and do you think it will be ok for us with dd6 & dd9?Thanks!!

Jiko is located in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The night vision goggles are not in the restaurant itself, but they are outside at the Lodge. Before or after your meal you are welcome to walk around the grounds to see the amazing architecture and observe the animal habits. On most evenings there will be cast members outside with night vision goggles that visitors can take turns using.

Jiko is an outstanding restaurant, with unique African tastes, gourmet presentation, and an extensive wine list. While children are welcome here, and there is a children's menu, this is a somewhat "fancy" restaurant. If you kids are well-behaved in other restaurant situations, then there's no reason not to bring them to Jiko. If you'd like to get a look at the menu in advance, you can go to the website allearsnet.com, click the search button, and search for "Jiko menu." You'll be taken to a link where you can see the offerings.

If your girls tend to get antsy at restaurants, there is another Animal Kingdom Lodge alternative. Right across the hall from Jiko is Boma. Boma is priced a bit lower than Jiko. It is a buffet-style meal. There are delicious African dishes here as well, but you'll also find some more mainstream American foods to suit the tamer palate. I find that buffets are often great for kids because they can move around a bit while they get up to explore the buffet line.

Both of these restaurants are wonderful and by dining at either you would be in a perfect position to walk around the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

    Have a great trip!
