Leaving for a 10 day WDW trip in 5 days!! I never did Disney's Magical Express and I'm a little confused about it. Can you explain the process to me? Should I carry on a bag with the things I need in the park that day? Or will I see my checked bags?

Deep breath. I'm going to walk you through your journey with Disney's Magical Express.

Before departing for the airport, you must decide if you want to check your bags through to your resort. If you do, place the yellow DME tags on your bags to be checked. These bags are then checked to go in the airplane's cargo area and also through to your WDW resort. You will not pick them up at Baggage Claim. If you prefer to get your bags, you will leave the DME tags off and simply check in your luggage as usual. However you will retrieve your bags from Baggage Claim in Orlando prior to getting your bus assignment to your resort.

I always pack things in my carry-on that I will need prior to the arrival of my luggage at the resort such as a swim suit! Your checked bags that are delivered via DME will take up to 3 hours to reach your room once you arrive Orlando.

Arriving Orlando you will visit the Welcome Center for your bus assignment. Follow the instructions in your booklet as there are no signs in the airport pointing you to the DME desk. If you chose to have your bagsĀ sent directly to your resort, you will only have your carry-on bags with you on the bus. Your checked bags will then be delivered directly to your room. It took my bags about 3 hours in June. You do not need to be in your room and gratuity is also included in this complimentary service.
