Hi Moms! Since I last visited WDW, I am unable to queue for long periods in the sunshine due to cancer, would the GAC apply to me and would my family go through the normal line and I meet them at the ride vehicle or can we wait together in a shady place?

    Hi, Kerri!

Thanks so much for your question. Since your last visit, there have been some changes to Disney Parks' policy with regard to providing access to attractions for guests with disabilities. To better serve guests with disabilities, Disney Parks have modified the Guest Assistance Card (GAC) program. The new Disability Access Service (DAS) Card replaced the GAC last month (as of October 9). The DAS Card was implemented to accommodate guests who are unable to wait in a conventional queue environment due to a disability.

Many of the attraction and show queues at Walt Disney World Resort are covered or indoors, so you will be able to access these attractions via the standard queue without having to worry about being exposed to the sun. To access attractions with an outdoor queue, you may want to consider requesting a DAS Card. You can visit Guest Relations at any of the four Walt Disney World theme parks to discuss your individual needs with a Cast Member and request a DAS Card.

DAS Cardholders receive a return time for attractions based on the current posted wait time minus 10 minutes. Typically, the DAS Card would allow you and up to 5 members of your family to return to the attraction at the designated time (or any time thereafter) and ride together. Until you return to the attraction, you can enjoy a meal or snack, shop, watch a show or parade, take a break in a shaded spot or experience another attraction -- how you spend your time is completely up to you, and the best part is that you won't need to be waiting in an exposed queue!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
