The last time I visited Walt Disney World it seemed like every store had these little figurines for sale, shaped like Mickey, but painted like something else. Can you tell me more about them?TY!

    Hi Erin,

Do you remember the anticipation and surprise as you would anticipate finding the toy surprise at the bottom of a Cracker Jacks box?  Well, I have a similar experience each time I purchase a Disney Vinylmation, which is what I believe you are remembering.

Vinylmations are 3" Mickey figures that have been adapted by artists to capture a certain theme:  Toy Story, Lion King, Star Wars, animation, villains, urban artistry, theme park attractions, etc. When you purchase the Vinylmations, you will know what collection (theme) you are purchasing, but you won't know which individual figure you will get --- thus, the excitement! And within each collection are mystery variations that make it even more fun.  It is a bit of a roller coaster ride for me while my children are actually riding roller coasters.  I stay behind in the shops and have just as much fun.

And if that wasn't enough, there are also smaller and larger versions of the figurines as well as speciality ones (where you know what you are purchasing beforehand).  In a nutshell, there are so many figures now that it can make your head spin!  And Disney keeps coming out with more and more!!

And don't worry, you are welcome to make trades of Vinylmations while at Walt Disney World in case you end up with a duplicate figure or one you'd just like to trade.  If you click here, you can read about the trading guidelines as well as more information on the Vinylmations, including all the many collections.

Thank you for visiting the Moms Panel; please let us know if we can help again.  And if you'd like to get a Vinylmation of your own even though you're home from your trip, you can buy them through the Disney Store (much to my husband's dismay!).
