Hi Kristen, A friend told me I HAD to contact you about my disney planning! My husband, son who will be 2, and myself are planning for sept 2013. We want to stay on the grounds any suggestions? Is a week too long to stay with a 2 year old? Thanks

Hi Jennifer!  Thanks so much for your question - please thank your friend for giving me the thumbs up! You're going to visit Walt Disney World at one of my most favourite times!  The weather is usually awesome, crowds are lower, and you'll find some of the best rates at the resorts during this time.  I think 1 week is the perfect amount of time for you with a toddler.  This will give you plenty of time to visit the theme parks, but also time to just relax - which in my opinion is the key to everyone having a fun vacation. When my kids were little, we would alternate a day in the theme parks with a day just hanging out at the resort or visiting Downtown Disney. Let your little one set the tone and pace of your days.  Some kids are perfectly comfortable on rides, while others want no part of it.  Also, don't be afraid to return to your resort in the afternoon for nap/down time.  This can make all the difference in a good day or a frazzled day. You can always return to the parks for the evening to enjoy fireworks, etc.  Flexibility is the key!

First, you need to decide where you'd like to stay.  There are 3 types of resorts -Value, Moderate, and Deluxe, with the amenities offered at each increasing with category. Check the Disney World website for descriptions and prices ranges for each resort to decide which appeals and fits your budget.  Now, if history repeats itself, a free dining promotion may be offered for the time you'll be visiting.  If you make your resort reservation now and free dining is announced later, you can modify your reservation to include it, without penalty up until 45 days prior to your arrival.

I'm limited by space, but would love to help you plan further.  If you have questions about resorts, dining or anything to do with planning your vacation, I would be happy to answer them for you!
