Hello. I know there's kid swapping, but is there "wheelchair swapping"? My mom has issues that prevent her from going on wild rides and will be in a wheelchair. She hates waiting by herself while others go on rides. Is there ride a swap option

    Hi Michelle,

Great question! You're correct, Walt Disney World offers a Rider Switch program for guests who may be too young to experience an attraction.

Now...keep your hands, arms, feet and legs inside the train because I have some good news for you!

I'm happy to say that the Rider Switch program can be used for adults as well. At participating attractions, just ask a cast member for a Rider Switch Pass so you and your mom can hang out while the rest of your group enjoys the attraction. Afterwards, you and another person in your party can then experience the attraction without having to wait in line for a second time.

That means you can offer that second-chance experience to the person offering the best bribe (e.g. souvenirs, an offer to carry your backpack around all day, or one that would be a clear winner for me....a snack from the Main Street Confectionery!).

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

If you plan to experience an attraction that does not offer the Rider Switch Pass, encourage your mom to chat with any of the cast members or other guests she encounters. Walt Disney World is not only "The Most Magical Place on Earth," but it's also the friendliest place on Earth.

When I walk down the street in my hometown, I rarely encounter people who are willing to make eye contact with me (must less strike up a conversation). When I'm at Walt Disney World, it's like I'm hanging out with my best friends no matter where I turn.

Not only do guests waive and smile at each other, but it's so common to see guests having conversation with cast members or other guests that they've never met before. So, hopefully your mom can do like I do and make a few new friends during vacation!

    I hope that helps!

    Best regards,
