I know my son will be able to get a button even though his bday isn't until a week after our trip, but my daughter's bday is far away & she'll spend the week watching him getting recognition & surprises. Is there a way to make it special for her?

I happen to believe that any time spent at Walt Disney World is indeed special, Cathleen and something tells me that your daughter will agree!  This may be a great opportunity for your daughter to be a part of celebrating her brother and acknowledging his special day.  To that end, you may recruit her help in pulling off a special surprise.  Better yet, plan a special surprise and give your daughter sole credit for it.  You might create a scavenger hunt around your resort in which your son finds his birthday pin at the end.  Coming up with clues might be a fun way to get your daughter excited about the trip as well as about pulling off a big surprise for her brother.  And she, of course, would follow along every step of the way as her brother followed the clues; it would be fun for both of them!

You don't mention her age, and that can be a big factor in how well she handles the situation, but I think that if you sit down with her before you leave home and talk to her about the pin her brother will wear at Disney, she can be more prepared for it.  And it might not hurt to promise her a special ice cream sundae at Ghirardelli (or a trading pin, or plush Mickey, you get the idea) at the close of the trip if she can help to make her brother's birthday a true celebration.  Good luck, Cathleen!
