I would like to know what people think about the bonus time you get with the Disney Resorts. Is this something most people utilize? I am trying to determine if we should get a resort and split it my sisters family or rent a vacation home.

    Hi Samantha!

I am a certified Disney nut, so I always love staying on property in one of the WDW resorts.  However, many people do enjoy staying off property in a spacious (and usually pretty darn affordable) vacation home.  A lot of these homes actually have private pools and other "home away from home" features.

For my Disney Dollar, you just can't beat staying right in the middle of all the magic!  One of my favorite reasons for staying on property is the benefit of Extra Magic Hours.  For those of you not familiar with this bonus, all resort guests can enjoy additional time in the parks at no additional charge.  I always find the parks much less crowded during these times - which is always great!  You also get the extra benefit of the Disney Transportation system, from Disney's Magical Express to monorails.  As a resort guest, you can also add the dining plan to any package that you purchase.  Best of all, you are immersed in the Disney Magic around the clock!

It's so great that your sister and her family will be with you.  Be sure to check out Grand Gatherings, if you do decide to stay on property.  Have a wonderful time!
