I know lots of folks have "fussy" eaters....We are going to Disney 6/11-6/25..have purchased meal plans for all including fussy eater age 12....he does have the "Adult" plan also...Question is would he be able to order food off the kids

Hi Linda! I consider myself the picky eater specialist here on the Moms Panel. My thirteen-year-old son has a very limited diet, so I've had the chance to see how just about every Disney restaurant accommodates finicky eaters. Even though your twelve-year-old is considered an "adult" at Disney restaurants, he may order from the children's menu if the foods there are more appealing. Obviously, the cost of a child's meal is much cheaper than the cost of an adult meal at Disney, so using your son's adult dining plan to pay for kids' meals is not the most cost-effective use of Dining Plan meal credits, unless the restaurant gives him an adult-sized portion, which a few will do. At other (non-buffet) restaurants, you may want to consider asking the server if you can pay for your son's kiddie meal out-of-pocket instead of using a dining plan credit. Then, other adults in the family could use his adult credits toward their more expensive meals.

If a particular restaurant doesn't have your child's favorite foods on the adult or kiddie menus, don't hesitate to ask for them anyway. My son loves grilled cheese sandwiches, and he is able to order one at many Disney restaurants, even if they aren't listed on the menu: 'Ohana brought him an adult-sized portion of grilled cheese and french fries, and the Yak & Yeti made him a grilled cheese on a hamburger bun. (The only restaurants we've encountered that weren't able to accommodate my son's special off-menu requests are those in the Epcot World Showcase.) Many restaurants are happy to prepare pizzas or other foods without sauces or certain ingredients. Buffets are also good dining choices for picky eaters. Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace have so many options; there's something for everyone.
