I know that I have to link a form of payment to my MagicBand upon check in....am I able to "load" gift card credit onto my band instead of a credit card?

    Hi Melissa,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!  I love using Disney Gift Cards when my family visits Walt Disney World and I usually have at least a few on hand to help cover our expenses.

At this time, it is not possible to link Disney Gift Cards to your MagicBand, but you have a couple other options.

You can always use your Disney Gift Card to pay for food or merchandise at Walt Disney World - it is accepted like cash at almost every location on property.  If you don't want to carry multiple cards with you, you even have the ability on the Disney Gift Card website to transfer different card balances onto one card.

Another option, and the one I usually use, is to go ahead and link a credit card to your account so that your MagicBand can be used for purchases, and then at the end of each day, just stop by the front desk to pay down your balance with your gift cards before the balance is charged to your credit card.  I like this option because it helps me keep track of all our expenses during our trip since those amounts and locations are listed on the hotel receipt.  Also, if you want to set spending limits on the MagicBand for anyone in your travel party, you can also do that at check-in when you link your credit card.  I like this option for my kids since it gives them a set amount of souvenir money within our budget, but also the freedom to buy the things they want on their own.

Wishing you a magical vacation, Melissa!  Please stop by again if we can help answer any other questions.
