Do you know if there is a way to honor or remember a loved one in Disney? Can you distribute ashes on Disney or buy a brick or star to someone who LOVED Disney?

Hi Stephanie.  I'm so sorry that you have experienced the loss of someone close to you - please accept my condolences.  In the past, Walt Disney World has offered personalized pathway bricks, or similar, to those guests wishing to mark an event in a more permanent fashion.  At this time, there are no such programs available.  Distributing ashes is most certainly not allowed, and could have legal ramifications.

My first suggestion to you on ways in which you could memorialize your loved one would be to make a donation in their name to a foundation such as Give Kids the World.  This would be such a lovely gesture and would allow a child who has a life-threatening illness, and their family, to visit Walt Disney World. Sharing your loved one's joy and love of Disney with another family in such a special way would definitely be a great tribute to them.  You can find out more about this program at GKTW.org

Also, on your next visit to Walt Disney World, maybe you could  all wear custom t-shirts that have your loved one's favourite Disney character - they wouldn't need to have any personal information if you weren't comfortable with that, but would just be a reminder that your loved one is there in spirit with you.  Finally, you could purchase a balloon and have a few moments of reflection in your loved one's favourite place at Walt Disney World - you could either release it when you are done, or pass it along to a small child in a random act of kindness on behalf of your loved one.

Stephanie, I hope I've given you some ideas on how you could remember your loved one.  Although your visit without them will be sad, I hope that you will be able to experience the joy that your loved one found through Disney and take comfort in that.
