hi! i know guests can use rider switch, but how does it work if using fast pass? does each adult need a fast pass in order to get on to the ride? can one adult take one child using the fast pass and get the rider switch pass for the other adult and child?

Hi, Jaime! Before our younger daughter hit her magical Disney-height milestones, we frequently utilized the Rider Switch system. All you have to do is bring your entire party, including the child who does not meet the height requirement, to the entrance of the attraction and let the Cast Member know you need to use Rider Switch. The first party will enter the normal queue for the attraction while the second party waits. When the first party exits the attraction, the second adult may enter with up to two other Guests to experience the attraction.

I recently spoke with a Cast Member to double check the current policy on combining FastPass+ and Rider Switch. Per the Cast Member, if the members of the first party are utilizing the FastPass+ queue, then the members of the second party using Rider Switch should have FastPass+ for the attraction as well. However, he also said that individual Cast Members at the attraction’s entrance may not always require the second party to have a scheduled FastPass+. In my experience, the Cast Members did not require me to hold a FastPass+ when I went in as a member of the second party. Note that this is based on personal experience, so be sure to check with the Cast Members at the attraction on what they will allow.

I hope this helps you in planning your visit to Walt Disney World Resort. Please stop by if you think of any other questions.
