I know that Disney has changed its policies on handicap guests. My mother is unable to walk very far and I was wondering what the new policies as far as rides & such go. We will be renting an electric scooter for her.

    Hello, Joanna!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Yes, there have been some changes to ensure that Guests with limited mobility issues won't miss any of the magic inside Disney Parks.Touring the parks in an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) will allow your mother to reserve her energy so she can experience all the parks have to offer.

First, I think you will find that most of the attraction queues are ECV friendly. There are a few attractions, like Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, where your mother will need to leave the ECV and transfer to a wheelchair to access the queue. She will then have only a few steps to walk before boarding the attraction vehicle. My mother had to do this on our last visit, and a Cast Member was there to assist us in the details. You and your mother may find this attraction access list helpful.

Second, should you find your mother in need of other accommodations, visit any theme park Guest Relations and speak to a Cast Member. The Cast Member can offer advice as how to accommodate your mother based on her specific needs.

Please let me know if you have further planning questions. I am happy to help!

    Have a pixie-dusted day!
