Can you use a knee scooter in Disney parks

Hey, John! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks so much for stopping by with your question. A couple of summers ago, I broke my ankle a few days prior to visiting Walt Disney World Resort. At first, I thought the vacation as going to be ruined, but I did a bit of brainstorming with my fellow panelists and figured out ways to make the trip doable. Just the thought of having to go all over the Resort while on crutches made me want to just cancel the whole thing!

I considered one of the knee scooters that you mentioned and am happy to let you know that these are allowed at the theme parks. You can even use them in the queues for attractions. Since you will not really need the knee scooter while on most attractions or in shows, you can leave it at the boarding area and it will be there waiting for you afterward or Cast Members will relocate it to the spot where you will disembark.

Something I do want you to consider is the sheer size of Walt Disney World Resort and how much ground you will cover over multiple days while using the scooter. That is a LOT of pressure you will be putting on your knee and lower leg. I am a speech pathologist and the physical therapists that I work with advised me to consider using an electric scooter (ECV) to avoid issues that could arise from that much use of a knee scooter. I ended up renting an ECV and I cannot even begin to tell you how thankful I was for it! That trip ended up being one of our best experiences, as the ECV was so easy to maneuver and made for easy trips across the parks every day. You can rent ECVs right at the theme parks. There are also several Disney Featured Providers for ECVs that can deliver them to Disney Resort Hotels and even some other locations off-property.

I hope this information helps you plan a magical visit to Walt Disney World Resort! Please let us know if you have any other questions as you continue to plan your pixie-dusted adventures.
