My kids are 5 and 6. We're planning on the meal plan that includes three meals and two snacks per day. If I understand correctly, those meals may be character meals. How many character meals are too many? Meal planning is the most complicated to plan.

    Hi, Kevin!

Booking "too many" meals is really up to your family's preferences.  For my family, one table service meal per day is plenty, allowing more time to play in the parks!  However, with your plan, you will want to book more than that to get the most value from your Dining Plan.

I would not book more than one character meal per day.  More than that, you will start to double up on your character meetings fairly quickly.  Since you have so many credits, you may want to look into dinner shows or Signature Dining which use 2 credits per meal. Some locations your kids may enjoy that are 2 credits per guest:

    -Cinderella's Royal Table (Magic Kingdom)
-Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue (dinner show at Fort Wilderness)
-The Hollywood Brown Derby (Hollywood Studios)

If you find that one you start to book that you have "too many" dining credits, you may want to consider downgrading to the Base dining plan which provides 1 Table Service credit, 1 Quick Service credit, and one snack.  A sample of a typical day with the base plan:
-Breakfast:  At your resort's food court, use refillable mug for coffee or hot chocolate, use Snack Credit for a bagel
-Lunch:  Quick Service lunch, one my favorites is Cosmic Rays in Magic Kingdom
-Dinner:  Table Service dinner, or a buffet such at Chef Mickey's

(**If you decide to downgrade your plan, you must do so 45 days prior to arrival to avoid any change fees.)

Let me know if you need a list of restaurants that your family will enjoy!  Good luck planning and have fun.
