My kids have always collected character autographs, but want to try something new during our next trip. What is the best way to get started on the pin trading? Also, are there still pressed penny machines, and do they sell albums to put the pennies in?

Hi, Amy! My kids and I LOVE to pin trade! It's very simple and lots of fun! We love the interactions with the Cast Members. You can read all about the Disney Pin Trading Etiquette at the link I have embedded for you.  There are just a few guidelines; otherwise the rules are to collect what you like and have a good time! Once my kids' pin trading resulted in our family being chosen to be in a parade.  Of course this doesn't always happen, but it's just one good example of the pixie-dusted experiences that can happen at Walt Disney World.

We also have sets of pressed pennies (and quarters)! They are plenty of machines and the collector's albums are still available! While I don't know of an official list from Walt Disney World itself, the incredible people at have compiled lists of both pressed penny and pressed quarter locations.  Just go to the website and search for "pressed coins."  You will be able to find a link to the list.  The locations are, of course, subject to change, but I have found this list to be very helpful in my family's quest.  Happy planning and have a Magical vacation!
