For Kay: I turn 60 in April, my husband is disabled. Do you know if there is a way we could get a low cost package via rail with connections in Flordia so it wouldn't be such a hassel for my husband who has Parkinsons? Valpo. In.

Hi Theresa...what a wonderful surprise to see a ? from Valpo!

Disney does not have rail packages available through them ,however, you might want to contact a local travel agency who can help you with this.  I did do some research and found that Amtrak can get you to Orlando from Chicago/South Bend with a change in Washington D.C.  The average length of this trip is about 35 hours not including the layover time in D.C.

Perhaps you will consider an air package?  This would make the trip much faster for your husband and the airlines do a great job to make the trip as easy and comfortable as possible.  Southwest and AirTran both fly direct out of Midway Airport to Orlando and often run great specials through Disney. From the airport you then have the opportunity to use Disney's free Magical Express bus service to any resort on property.  This would only take you approximately 6-7 hours from your house to Mickey's!

Please call the Disney Travel company (407-828-8101) or the Disney reservation line (407-934-7639) and a cast member can help you find the best options and most cost saving package for the time you wish to vacation at Walt Disney World.  Right now they have a great offer of Buy 4 nights, Get 3 Free!  Plus there is also a special for 2009 for attending one park on your birthday FREE!  April sounds like a perfect month for a wonderful Disney trip for you.

I would also like to suggest a wonderful book available at Barnes and Noble or amazon.com called  Passporter's Open Mouse for Walt Disney World by Deb Wills and Debra Martin Koma.  This book will help guide guests with disabilities through the parks so they can enjoy it to the fullest.  I just picked my copy up this weekend and it is wonderful!

Please feel free to write as you have more questions. I know you would have a wonderful time!
