Hi Kari, Going to Old Key West in November 1BR.. We are not DVC members. Is it true that certain bldgs are for DVC members only? We have an Autistic son and #1 priority is a quiet location. Wanted to request room in Bldgs 30-37. What do you think?? Thanks

Howdy Cathy! To begin, I chatted with a Cast Member who confirmed that DVC Members and other Guests all share the Resort as one big happy family. Specific buildings are not set aside for Disney Vacation Club Members. DVC Members do have the opportunity to book the Villas at 11 or 7 months but Villas are also available on a cash basis, as you know based on your reservation.

In my opinion, you have selected the best Resort on property for a quiet Villa. Disney's Old Key West is one of my husband's favorite resorts. It's beautiful and tranquil. The Villas are spacious and very homey. In all our stays at Old Key West, there has only been one time that we could hear the Guests in the next Villa. They had a small baby who sounded very tired. The sound was muffled but it was still sound and I know how important it is to you to have a quiet area so that your son is comfortable.

Your building selections are ideal. I would encourage you to seek assistance from the Cast Members as well. Contact Disney Reservations and ask them to note your son's medical need on your reservation.  When you are 10 days out from your check-in date, contact Old Key West at (407) 827-7700 and confirm that your request is noted. When you check-in, explain your situation again and confirm that you were assigned a Villa that will work well for you and your son. They will do what they can to be as accommodating as possible.

When in the Theme Parks, you might want to request a Guest Assistance Card from Guest Relations. Explain your son's situation to a Cast Member who will stamp a Guest Assistance Card appropriately. This service is designed to alert Cast Members about Guests who may need additional assistance. As needed and appropriate, Guests may be offered an alternative waiting area based on the attraction.

I hope this helps you with your vacation planning. Please let me know if you need any further information and have a magical day!
