Mom And Daughter Resort Room

June will be daughter's first long visit to WDW. At 4 1/2, she'll be old enough to GET IT. I want her to know the tales behind attractions, but many movies are in the vault. How can I introduce her to the stories of Sorcerer Mickey, Simba, Belle, etc?

As a former librarian, I just have to say, "Have you tried your local library?" My town library has many Disney video and DVD titles that are currently in the vault. They also have many Disney published books that tell these stories as well. Perhaps your library is similarly stocked.

In the past, Disney would only give their films limited release once every seven years or so, keeping them "in the vault" until the next release. This would build interest in the films and keep them fresh for each new generation of movie-going kids. With the days of electronic media upon us, the vault is somewhat meaningless. You can find any of the films you alluded to (Fantasia, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast) on Netflix, Ebay, and Amazon (both new and used). With a credit card and a few clicks of the keyboard, they can be on your doorstep within a day.

So, try your library first, but if that doesn't work try one of the online sources I mentioned. I'm sure your daughter will love getting acquainted with Disney's finest.
