Hi joel,  we're taking the leap & going to disney! I need some major help in planning- what tips can you offer? Didn't have a lot of flexibility around travel dates(we're going w/ another family)so10/2

Huzzah! The Disney leap is a good one to make. My leap looks more like a prance, but I'm working on it.

Let's start with some basics. Assuming you like the other family you're going with, October is an awesome time to visit. Wisconsin has turned ugly by then and Florida is literally a breath of fresh air. In addition to the awesome weather, the crowd levels are very manageable. You'll be able to move through the parks and experience attractions at a more relaxed pace. The Disney resorts (hotels) also reflect the lower crowd levels by making room rates less per night than they are during busier times of year. Staying on property is where the party's at - you get to take advantage of airport luggage delivery and transportation to and from the airport (Magical Express,) transportation to the parks from your resort and extended hours in the mornings and/or evenings at the parks (Extra Magic Hours.)

You'll be in Disney World during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, which bolsters the bounty of foodie goodness in Epcot with 20+ kiosks serving up tapas-sized portions of regional goodies. (If they were Wisconsin-sized portions, we'd all be in trouble.) Another favorite is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party at Magic Kingdom, where you get to trick or treat around the park along with other exclusive happenings, including the HalloWishes fireworks, Boo to You parade and costumed characters.

Now that the wheels are turning, come on back and let me know what else I can help with - whether it's touring strategies, selecting your resort, dining options, coffee stands, wifi locations or anything, really!
