Hi Joel! Your answers are always great! Going to Disney Feb 2012 with extended family, 2 kids (1, 3) for 9 total. Need a "nice" but kid friendly restaurant to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. Any suggestions? Also, thoughts on Florida in F

Hi, Linda! Thanks for the props and sending me a question!

When my kids were 1 and 3, carefully picked restaurants were key. (So were back up diapers and proximity to restrooms.)

My mom is about 60 and my kids are close enough in age to yours, so I'll put myself in your shoes (just preferably not in heels.) Here are my top three choices to celebrate your mama and keep your kids at ease. It's pure coincidence that they all start with the letter "C."

Cinderella's Royal Table. You won't find a nicer atmosphere. It's a sit down, plated meal inside the castle. Some princesses will come by during your meal but they are non-intrusive. Plus, they are all face characters and won't freak out your kids in the event that they have character eversion.

California Grill. This place at the top of the Contemporary provides a very special setting, and its totally cool to bring your kids here as well. Since you're planning well in advance, time your reservation to be near the time of Wishes, which you can watch from the restaurant's viewing area for the fireworks. Another bonus of the outside viewing area is that it provides a nice diversion if you need to give your kids a breather during courses. From the viewing area, you can look over much of the Magic Kingdom.

Coral Reef. This restaurant in Epcot does great seafood and is below the radar of many visitors. The atmosphere is awesome for adults and kids alike thanks to the enormous saltwater tank. It's eye candy for everybody.
