In January of 2010 we are planning to book our stay using DVC points at WL Villas in 2 rooms. Our party of 10 ranges in age from 3-81. Should we book GG experiences? The only advantage I see to GG is 180 vs 90 day booking window & specials.

    Ann Marie:

I would absolutely recommend registering your party of 10 as a Grand Gathering, if for the only reason that it costs you nothing!

However, you hit the nail on the head with dining....with Disney moving dining reservations from a 180-day window to a 90-day window for parties other than GGs, I see this as a GREAT advantage, especially since a lot of together time can revolve around meals, and seating 10 people together at once is not easy.

In addition, if you've got the dining plan, you can use credits on the plan for three Grand Gathering meal experiences: the International Dinner and IllumiNations Desert Reception, the Safari Celebration Dinner or the Good Morning Character Breakfast at Magic Kingdom.

When I brought our family of 19 last year, I wished that we would have done one of these experiences! The desert reception would have allowed us ALL to be together during the fireworks, rather than sending a few folks from dinner early to try and save spots....the Character Breakfast would have allowed us early entry into Magic Kingdom for a family photo without a lot of folks in the back!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
