Since Jan2016 Pkgs can't be booked until July or Aug 2015 how does that effect me being able to book dinning 180 in advance? It would be too late and I would miss the hard to get ones?

    Hi Susan,

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with another great question! How exciting that your 180-day reservation window will be here soon! The great food is just one of the reasons my family loves vacationing at Walt Disney World, so I completely understand how important those dining reservations are when making your plans.

Whether or not you have a Disney Resort hotel room or package reserved, you can always make dining reservations up to 180 days in advance by visiting the Dining page of the website, using the My Disney Experience mobile app or calling (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). For the first 2 options, those dining reservations usually open at that 180-day mark at 6:00 a.m. (Eastern) and at 7:00 a.m. (Eastern) by phone. I'd recommend checking availability as close as possible to those opening times for the best chance at getting exactly the restaurants and times you want.

If you do have a Disney Resort hotel room or package already reserved, you have a bit of an advantage, since you can make up to 10 days of dining reservations at that 180-day mark (instead of having to make those one day at a time otherwise). This can definitely help you get some of the more popular dining spots, especially if you plan those for the later days of your trip. You're right that the timing for this can be tricky for January if the new year's rates and packages haven't been released yet. One option would be to call and make a room-only reservation for your January trip. You can always do this up to 499 days in advance by calling (407) W-DISNEY (934-7639), so even though you won't know the final rates yet, you will have a reservation in place so that you can make those dining plans.

I hope that helps, Susan, and wishing you a magical vacation!
