It'll be our first trip to WDW and we're staying at Saratoga Springs for 7 days in July and plan to have a car. Would you suggest using it to go back and forth to the parks during the day? What about evening dinners at the other resorts and theme parks?

    Hi Oren!

Having a your own transportation with you on your Walt Disney World vacation can help you maximize the time you play in the parks.

I suggest driving if you are planning to dine at some of the great restaurants available at the various resorts. While you can go from resort to resort using Disney transportation, it usually takes at least an hour and you normally have to change buses, or the like, along the way.

Driving will usually get you to your Walt Disney World resort destination within 25 minutes, or even less.  Since you are a guest at a Disney resort, you won't have to pay self parking fees at the parks or resorts (with the exception of Swan and Dolphin). Another plus to driving yourself is that you'll be on your schedule, and not waiting for the next bus to arrive.

I find parking at the theme parks simple, and if you happen to attend on a busy day and find yourself further back in the parking lot, you can rest assured that a tram will come around, usually within minutes, to pick you up and drop you off at the park entrance (and vice versa upon your exit). Don't forget to take note of where you park!

However, there is a bit of the Disney ambiance that comes with using Disney transportation. I suggest a ride on the monorail, or the ferry along the Epcot/Hollywood Studios resort area, while on visit, just for good measure!

     Have a magical vacation!
