i want to make an itinerary for our 6 day trip. Have a few books and have booked some dinner/breakfasts for the week. have the days for each park we want to visit. Is it helpful to make the itinerary as detailed as planning what rides to start with?

    Hi Michelle,

You've done GREAT work so far. Getting your reservations is order is a big step forward. As for deeper planning, you're asking whether it makes sense to construct a touring plan for your family. The necessity of this varies a bit depending on when you're traveling. I'd say that if you're visiting Walt Disney World in mid September, the lowest crowd time of the year, a touring plan can be helpful, but not 100% necessary. If you're traveling in mid summer, spring break, or any holiday, then having a touring plan can save you man hours of time. Luckily there are some folks who have already done a lot of work for you on this topic. The website touringplans.com is run by statisticians and researchers who have spent countless hours figuring out the most time efficient order in which to complete attractions. You can use one of their preconstructed plans or enter the exact attraction list that suits your family in their custom touring plan program. They've found that experiencing the attractions in the right order can save you 2-4 hours of waiting time per day, depending on when you're traveling. A bit of full disclosure here, there is a small fee to use some of the touringplans data (about $10). And more full disclosure, I do sometimes write for the touringplans blog, but I was a HUGE fan and user of the product long before I actually met anyone associated with the site. If you choose not to make a touring plan, the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to ARRIVE AT THE PARKS EARLY. Get there about half an hour before opening time and move with purpose to the attractions as soon as the park opens. This alone will save you loads of wait time for the attractions. Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
