I am interested in taking my 2 and 4 year old to the Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage show, but am wondering about how they portray the conflict between the Beast and Gaston? Do they fight? Does Gaston die? How fierce is the Beast in the play?

    Hi Julie,

The Beauty and the Beast stage show is something I think both of your children will really enjoy.  It's basically an adaptation of the story that features all of the musical numbers from the movie.  There are some moments where the Beast and Belle argue back and forth, and the Beast roars, but nothing as frightening as in the movie.

As far as the conflict between Gaston & the Beast, Gaston and the villagers sing "Kill the Beast".  The townspeople then storm the castle -- it's really more like a dance between the castle characters and the villagers.  Gaston and Beast struggle, but there is no blood, and Gaston does simply runs off stage once the Beast has been wounded.

For the most part, the show is light and upbeat.  The dialogue in between songs is minimal, so your little ones should be engaged throughout.  You may want to avoid sitting right up front since you don't know exactly what will or will not frighten your little ones -- is always best to have a little distance between yourself and the stage.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!
