    Betsy from MN Asked

I would like info on the different rooms (pros and cons) at the Contemporary. We plan to go Feb 10-15, 2009. Concerns: noise of monorail, would like view, close to walking path to MK. Thanks.

Hi, Betsy!   My family and I stayed at the Contemporary over the summer and we loved it.   We stayed on the floor right above the monorail and had no problem with the noise even though the train was zooming by right under us!     We had a Tower Room with Magic Kingdom view, and it was incredible.  We watched the fireworks every night from our balcony.   At night, we would leave the curtains open so the kids could fall asleep watching the beautiful lights on Cinderella Castle.  I can't say enough about a room like that!

I have heard concerns about the noise in the mornings from Chef Mickey's.  Our room was right in the middle of the Tower, and we had no problems with this (in fact my kids would get up and watch Mickey and his pals from outside our door!)  You can always request a room away from Chef Mickey's (requests noted but not guaranteed.)

Advantages of the Tower:  Great views of either Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake, proximity to food court, restaurants, and the monorail.

Advantages of the Garden Wing:   Rooms are less expensive, proximity to the pool and marina, some have view of Bay Lake, just a short walk over to the Tower.

The walk from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom was less than 15 minutes.

If your budget allows the Tower Rooms, they are fabulous!   If not, the Garden Wing Rooms still give you convenience to the Magic Kingdom and the room decor is very nice (modern and clean!)

    Enjoy your February vacation!
