    I'm going to be going to WDW August 11-17. I know its going to be a hot trip. During the hottest part of the day we plan on leaving the parks and going back to the resort for naps, pool time, etc. Any other ideas to skip the heat during that time of day?

    Brittney,

    That is the best plan of all. For us it has been what has saved our trips. Not only for avoiding the most hot time of the day, but the recharge back at the resort keeps us energized throughout the trip.

    A few other ideas for when you are in the parks;

    • Keep Hydrated. I know, everyone knows to do this. But at a theme park it is easy to forget. If you are thirsty, and just need a quick glass of ice water, go to one of the counter service restaurants and ask. They usually will oblige, no charge.
    • Shop in the afternoon. Any good Walt Disney World vacation includes some shopping. Do that in the early afternoon, as the stores are air conditioned, and you get out from the direct sunlight.
    • Dark Rides. Really, any indoor attraction or show should be on your list for the afternoon. Consider often ignored shows, like Mickey's PhilharMagic (a personal favorite) and the the Enchanted Tiki Birds (my # favorite of all time!), where you get to cool off, and enjoy a show.
    • Indoor snacks. Whether you buy something, or even if you bring your own snacks in with you, go to one of the quick service restaurants with indoor seating to enjoy a bite, a sip, and a rest. My recommendations for this are Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe (Magic Kingdom), Sunshine Seasons (Epcot), ABC Commissary (Hollywood Studios), and Restaurantosaurus (Animal Kingdom).
    Write me back if you have other questions.

    Have a magical vacation!
