I'm worried excitement and long days will wear us out. Other than walking, what are the best ways to travel within each park.

Hello Terra!  Thanks for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

It is no doubt, there is a lot of walking at Walt Disney World and your main mode of getting around is absolutely going to be your two feet.  While that does sound exhausting, there are plenty of ways to rest your feet for a bit.  At Magic Kingdom, you can take a ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad which has 3 convenient stops in Frontierland, Fantasyland and on Main Street U.S.A.  Riding on the train is a great way to get around the park without having to walk.  Keep in mind, anytime you are feeling tired you can have a seat at any Quick Service dining location and you don't even have to order anything.  If it's hot outside, take advantage of the Quick Service locations that are inside so you can sit in the air conditioning.  While you're there, you can also ask for a free glass of ice water to stay hydrated.  If we are feeling tired at Magic Kingdom, we like to take a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.  It's a longer ride that goes inside during parts of it providing some shade and darkness that is great for resting!  Watching the shows at the Disney parks is also a great way to rest for 20 or 30 minutes.  I always feel rejuvenated after leaving Finding Nemo - The Musical at Disney's Animal Kingdom.  The theater is inside and air conditioned.  It's a great spot to rest for a bit.

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes that are already broken in.  I made the mistake of wearing some new shoes one time and my feet were so sore.  I like to keep Band-Aids and Moleskin in my bag, just in case I do start to get a blister.  You can also take a break from the parks midday and head back to the resort for a nap. Hope this helps!  If you have any other question, let me know!
