I'm working on our itinerary and dining reservations for our family trip in March. I'm having trouble getting reservations to match up with different events and the park we're in for that day. Is it common to park hop for dining reservations?

    Hi Jasmine,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! How exciting to be in the midst of planning your dining reservations!

In the past, we have park hopped to do dining reservations, but we do not do so now. When using Resort Transportation, it can take an hour to get from one park to another for a dining reservation. We like to maximize our time in the parks, so we now make dining reservations in locations near our Fast Pass+ selections or at our resort.

If you do park hop for dining reservations, be sure to consider geographic location in each park. For example, if you were to leave one park and go to dine at Animal Kingdom, I would suggest that you dine at Rainforest Cafe because it is near the front of Animal Kingdom. If you were to leave one park and head to Magic Kingdom, I would choose Tony's Town Square Restaurant or The Crystal Palace because they are near the front of Magic Kingdom. Also, consider where your Fast Pass+ selections will be. Try to make the last one close to the entrance of a park so that you can exit quickly when you need to leave.

Jasmine, since you are making reservations early, I would also suggest that you keep checking restaurant availability. Cancellations do occur. I have even been able to secure a reservation for Cinderella's Royal Table a few months prior to one of our trips. Finally, download the My Disney Experience Mobile App so that you have access to the transportation options using the "Get Directions" feature.

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
