I'm wondering what moderate or value resort to stay in? I'm traveling with my son (7) who has high functioning autism (noises and loud crowds bother him but he loves swimming and play structures) and my mom who has difficulty walking long distances.

Hi Julie-Ann! This is a tough choice as it is likely impossible to get all of the needs you have at one resort. The best pools are at the Deluxe resorts with the best on property being the Yacht and Beach Stormalong Bay. The ease of walking is also best at a Deluxe being that some resorts are within walking distance to parks and they do not have internal bus systems because they are not large enough for that use.

If the pool is one of the most important points to consider I would choose a moderate. I feel that one of the quietest in this category would be Port Orleans French Quarter. It is a bit smaller then its sister resort, Riverside and has transportation to all parks plus a boat to Downtown Disney. It has a nice atmosphere all around and a popular choice for families. The Value resorts can tend to be a bit noisy with large groups staying at them at any given time.

Your other choice for quiet resort is the Fort Wilderness cabins. This is the ultimate for peacefulness while at Disney. There is an internal bus system that picks you up and can get you to the main buses at the front of that resort or the marina where you can take a nice boat to the Magic Kingdom. The pool has a slide and is never as crowded as some of the other resort pools seem to be. Lots of room to play and run around and run off that steam!
