I’m wondering can I get a DAS card for my Type 1son. Our trip is in 9 days & he has NEVER been before. We are worried about the heat & the length of the lines. He just can’t do it on top of how much walking is involved inside the park.

    Hi there, Brenda!

I'm so glad you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!  One of my daughters has Type 1 like your son, so we understand the fear of lows in the heat and long lines.  You can definitely obtain a Disability Access Service card for your child's Type 1.  Although you don't need to state your child's medical condition, you will need to describe the needs of your child.  You may enter a line queue with an in-range blood sugar but after an hour plummet to a low before boarding, which is where the DAS will really come in handy.

Remember to bring plenty of "low snacks", and keep in mind that hydration is super important for high blood sugar levels!  I would also recommend using a Frio to keep insulin at room temperature during the heat.  You can easily find these on Amazon - we have found great success with them!

If there's any other questions I can answer about Walt Disney World or regarding Type 1 Diabetes, please do not hesitate to ask!

    Magically yours in 2018,
