I'm undecided about the meal plan and find it very expensive for just one week. What places in Disney World are worth going to for a reasonable price for a family of 4?

    Loretta:

Thanks for coming to the Mom's Panel!

The dining plan isn't for everyone--especially if you are not planning to eat several Character Meals.  When we aren't on the dining plan, and eat out-of-pocket, here are some of our favorites that are good values:

    Sunshine Seasons:
Best variety at Epcot for "counter-service" that feels more like table service.  Large portioned salads and what I call a blue-plate line make it a good value.  Two of you might be able to eat one meal.

Ohanas: For the price, it (along with Biergarten in Epcot) is one of the best all-you-can-eat dinners, in my opinion.  Children enjoy learning the limbo and how to hula!

Boulangere Patisserie:  France's counter service at Epcot has flavorful quiches and sandwiches that hit the spot.  A good choice if you don't want to pay for food you don't plan to eat!

Rainforest Cafe:  The large a la carte menu is predictable with nachos, big burgers, pasta, ribs, etc. but the entertainment factor puts it high on our list--a good change of pace from all-things Disney.

Flame-Tree BBQ:  Big portions, tender ribs.  Find a table under the trees and relax in the wild.  As good a dining experience as any table service at Animal Kingdom (of course, once you get through the line), for half the price.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
