I'm trying to plan my first trip to Disney.. we have a large family and the boys ages are far apart 18, 12, 9, and 5. I need budget saving tips and just tips on where to start.. this is overwhelming.

    Hi Heather,

Never fear, the Disney Parks Moms Panel is here! Planning and budgeting, my two favorite things aside from actually going to the Walt Disney World Resort!

Given the size of your family, planning is essential. I recommend that you stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. Although we have stayed off-site, I hate losing the benefits of being a resort guest, so whatever we may save in price is outweighed by the benefits we lose. Start by pricing Magic Your Way Vacation Packages for the exact dates of your stay. Be sure to check the Special Offers page. Given that you are on a budget, take a look at the Value Resort Hotels.

If you have a family of six, I suggest that you try a family suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. The suites have a kitchenette and two bathrooms. The Big Blue Pool at this resort is phenomenal and the food court has several options.

Heather, once you select the resort, decide how many days you want to visit the parks and select your park tickets. We typically get base tickets to all four theme parks. If we are staying six nights, we get five-day base tickets. Also, consider a dining plan. Although it may seem expensive when you price it, we have found it to be a great value because we like to eat, nobody wants to cook and food can be expensive on vacation. Finally, you need to make dining reservations and Fast Pass+ selections. As long as you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you can make dining reservations for your length of stay (up to 10 days) 180 days in advance and Fast Pass+ selections 60 days in advance!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
    Donyell
