Hi I'm trying to plan our family first Disney vaccation for September 2014. I have 2 children (4 years old boy and 9 years old girl. I want to stay 4-5 days. Should we stay on a value resort or moderate resort? Should we have a car or is unecessarie?

    Hi Patricia:

Congratulations on your first Disney vacation.  Planning your first one can feel overwhelming, but once you get to be a pro, you may find that planning can be half the fun.

Without knowing your family's exact budget, I would consider a strong Value Resort, such as Art of Animation or Pop Century.  These Resorts have great theming, pools, and food options.  While Moderate Resorts tend to have grander themeing and broader food options, in my opinion, you really start noticing awe-inspiring theming and amenities when you look at Deluxe Resorts.  So I would look more closely at a Value Resort and use the difference in price to buy a few more souvenirs.

My family never rents a car at Walt Disney World.  We use Disney's Magical Express transportation to and from Orlando International Airport, and rely on Disney's complimentary monorail, buses, and boats (and occasionally choose to splurge and pay for a taxi), when staying on property.  It's always worked for my family, but every family is different.

    Enjoy your vacation.
