I'm traveling with a 1 & 2 yr old to WDW 9/18-9/24, making dining reservations now.How do I handle timing for going back to resort for naps, seeing afternoon parades, evening events, and dinner? Are there any timelines that worked for moms in the past?

    Hi Marissa!

I hope I can help with this, and I think I'm understanding what you're asking...if not please feel free to ask for more information.

As a Mom of 3 young ones, we've ALWAYS gone back to the resort for nap time, and will do that for the foreseeable future as our youngest is almost 10 months old...anyway...this is how I schedule that time:

Travel time to resort/nap/snack/travel time back to park:  3-4 hours (I know it sounds like a TON of time, but I like to have a 'cushion' there just in case we need a super long nap...or busses are running long.

On days where we want to see a parade (that might be conflicting with our 'regular' nap time), we don't wake the kids super early...we let then wake when they're ready and then head out for the day, then we take a later nap (than usual) and usually plan on dinner at our resort, or dinner and fireworks at one of the parks.  It is on these days that I will plan a dining reservation for lunch OR dinner.

On early wake up days (such as early breakfast reservations), we wake the kids up and stay true to our 'regular' nap time.  That generally allows us more 'play' time in the afternoon/evening.  It is on days like these (where we have an early breakfast reservation), that I'm more likely to schedule another reservation for dinner.  We try to keep our dining reservations down to 1 a day because it seems to offer us more flexibility for the 'what ifs'-'what if the toddler has a meltdown?' type of thing.

Be flexible.  Listen to your kids.  Keep then well hydrated and have healthy, protein-packed snacks at the ready.  Have fun!

    Have a magical vacation!
