Mom And Daughter Resort Room

I'm traveling with my husband and 9 yr old daughter in the first part of December 2008 to WDW. We are wondering which resort to stay in....Wilderness Lodge or Grand Floridian? Are there any advantages over one?

I have stayed at both the Wilderness Lodge and the Grand Floridian several times. They are both amazing deluxe hotels, with minibars, comfy robes, and superb service. I'm sure you would be happy at either one. But let me describe a few of the differences between them.

    - Transportation: The GF is on the monorail line, this makes getting to the Magic Kingdom a one-minute journey. The WL transportation to the Magic Kingdom is via boat, this is a pleasant and relaxing way to travel.

    - Restaurants: There is a character meal (1900 Park Fare), the adults-only Victoria and Alberts, a tea parlor, and several other dining and drinking venues at the GF. At the WL, the main restaurants are the boisterous cowboy-themed Whispering Canyon Cafe and the peaceful Artist Point.

    - Theming: The GF is elegant and romantic. The WL is majestic and woodsy.

    - Price: The WL will likely be slightly less expensive.

    - Views: For an extra fee, you might be able to get a room at the GF with a view of the Magic Kingdom.

    - Rooms: The WL also has villa-style accommodations, if you're looking for a bit more space.

Again, these are both great places to stay. I think your theming preference and price should be your deciding factors. Let us know if you need any additional help.
