I'm taking my family on a Disney Cruise followed by a week at Walt Disney World. We have a 10 yr old boy, 7 yr old girl and 5 mo old boy. How can we make it a great and memorable trip for everyone?

Wow, Wendy -- you've really got the makings for a wonderful and memorable trip of a lifetime!  A Disney Cruise Line (DCL) voyage followed by a week at Walt Disney World (WDW) sounds like my idea of the perfect family vacation.

As a veteran guest of both, the best advice I can give you is to do as much research before you leave home as possible. Go online to DisneyWorld.com and DisneyCruise.com and virtually explore all there is to see and do. Order the free planning DVDs and take advantage of all the complimentary planning resources there are -- maps, videos, tips and hints -- and of course, all the eager and available moms and dads at DisneyWorldMoms.com.

For your cruise, make sure you make your nursery, spa, Port Adventure and Palo reservations in advance. Plus, you'll want to register your children online for the Oceaneer's Club and Lab once your cruise has been paid in full. Then, all you'll need to do is check in online a few days before your cruise and plan what you want to do on board using your Personal Navigator -- the ship's schedule delivered daily to your stateroom.

For WDW, you'll need to be a little more proactive.  Once your reservations have been made, you'll need to make sure you've planned your days based on your dining reservations.  Depending on the time of year you're visiting, you may need to do this as much as 180 days in advance. You'll also want to look at when the parks are open while you're there and make sure you make note of any special events. It's best to plan out everyday at WDW, but hold your plans loosely in anticipation of the unexpected magical moments which are hallmarks of a Disney vacation.

Come back if you have more pointed questions, and I hope you have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
