Hi moms! I'm surprising my little sister for her birthday and taking her on a sisters-only trip to WDW! What is a "must do" for a thirteen-year-old girl?

Hi there Meg! A sisters-only trip to Walt Disney World sounds absolutely divine!

As the parent of a now 20 year old, I recall those early teenage years were a time when my child wanted to experience more grown-up fare on our vacations. So, I'm going to base my answer on what I suspect will be true for your little sister as well. However, if she seems to be really into acting silly and is okay with the concept of still being a kid, then by all means schedule some character meals, wear Goofy hats (pun intended) and chase down those Disney Princess autographs. (I'll bet you can't guess which category I still fall in to at my "older" age?)

It would be delightful for you both to experience Afternoon High Tea at the Garden View Tea Room inside Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Then, arrange for the Disney Florist to present a special surprise for your sibling's 13th birthday during the meal and watch her face light up with joy! I'm envisioning a pixie-dusted rose and perhaps a Wishing Bracelet to help mark this momentous occasion.

Another really fun idea would be to arrange for spa services that the two of you can enjoy together. A day of pampering while discussing who really put that bubble gum in the dryer when Mom wasn't looking would be a wonderful bonding opportunity and is sure to create lasting memories for years to come!

Thanks so much for visiting us here at the Walt Disney World Moms Panel and feel free to send more questions my way in the days leading up to your sister's birthday vacation!
