Mom And Son On Run

I'm stumped! We are visiting WDW for the first time & staying at the Poly. Please! Which longhouse?? My kids are 9,8,6. I want to be near the pool, have easy access to fireworks from beach, & not too far from the monorail.

    Aloha Kelly!

Disney's Polynesian Resort is my absolute favorite resort hotel in all of Walt Disney World.

No joke - I've been listening to a recording of the background music they play around the resort as I've been working today. So, I thought it was such a funny coincidence when I saw your question!

Of the two pools at Disney's Polynesian Resort, your children will probably want to spend most of their time in the volcano pool (the larger of the two pools, which is adjacent to the beach). That being said, the Samoa longhouse would be the closest longhouse to that particular pool. Plus, the Samoa longhouse is a lava rock's throw away from the beach and the Great Ceremonial House (where the Monorail station is).

If you're not able to snag a room in the Samoa longhouse, don't worry. Even though the grounds of the resort look massive on a map, it's a pretty quick walk to those hotspots no matter where you'll be staying.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

When you check-in, feel free to ask the cast member if any rooms are available in the Samoa longhouse, or any other longhouse that's centrally located. It can never hurt to ask because they might have some flexibility.

Here's a bonus tip from your buddy Derek:

Most guests like to watch the Magic Kingdom's fireworks from the beach located in front of the Hawaii longhouse because of how close it is to the volcano pool and the nightly movie that's shown on the beach. However, consider taking a walk down to the beach in front of the Tahiti longhouse instead. It's not as crowded and I think the view of the fireworks is a little better from that vantage point.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
