I'm staying at Port Orleans Riverside this Nov and made reservations for O'hana at 9:45pm. How do I get back to my resort since Disney Buses stop transporting to parks 1hr after they close. Can I take bus from Polynesian to downtown Disney to Port Orleans?

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

My family often seems to have those late-night dinner reservations, which are great for squeezing in lots of theme-park fun before dinner. The one drawback can be transportation afterward.

If Magic Kingdom is open late on the night of your visit, either for regular hours or Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the easiest way to get back to your resort would be to take the monorail from the Polynesian to Magic Kingdom to catch your Port Orleans bus.

If that's not possible, you have a couple of options. You are correct that you can take a bus to Downtown Disney, then transfer to a Port Orleans bus or water taxi. Buses run to and from Downtown Disney until 2 a.m. This route likely will take you an hour or more.

If you want to get back to your resort faster, you can catch a taxi at the Polynesian. Cabs are readily available at each resort entrance, and the ride between points on Disney property seldom is more than $20, including tip. Two friends and I recently took a taxi from Epcot to the Contemporary, and the pre-tip tab was $14. I would expect the trip from the Polynesian to Port Orleans to be similar.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you as you make your plans. Enjoy your dinner at 'Ohana and your entire Walt Disney World vacation!
